how many vintage belts does one need?

My funkiest aunt has been clearing out her Soho apartment, doing some major spring cleaning. In the process of determining what she’d like to keep and what she’d like to give away, she decided to send me some of her vintage belts. The box arrived a couple of days ago, and I was surprised to find that what she meant when she said “some vintage belts” was 32 BELTS!!

So I must ask: how many vintage belts does one need exactly?

Considering the four I owned before this shipment, I’m thinking this is 21 belts too many! I never imagined I’d own this many belts! Especially because the belt is a somewhat forgotten accessory. At least that’s what it seems like to me. Perhaps it’s because I never really wore belts. It’s only recently that I developed a fondness for them.

Now that I own all these vintage belts, I suppose I will become a belt person. I love that my aunt sent me many different styles, colours, and designs. It means I have a lot to work with. Plus I love the way they cinch the waist–I am also now starting to see just how thin my aunt was once upon a time!

Below are photos of some of the belts. I LOVE the vintage leather belts, and I like the unique buckles and designs on some of these, especially the Gucci buckle which I find really cute.

loving these buckles!

Now if I can just find the right outfits for these. Anyone have suggestions?
