love being different

the last of the wild nights?

They say that there comes a point in everyone’s life when you have to bid childhood goodbye. My first question is, who ARE ‘they’ and when did ‘they’ become so wise? My second question is, do we really ever say goodbye to childhood?
Admittedly, there will be many points or milestones when we realize that we getting older, when we do have to say goodbye to certain elements of childhood, when we have to mature and grow for our own good, but it never means we have to say goodbye to every aspect of being a child or being young.
This post is called ‘the last of the wild nights’ because I have come to terms with the fact that I do have to say goodbye to something that can only be done when your physical age is in the lowest of the double digits. To become the person I want to be, I have to do away with parts of the child that I was. As much as I wish I could be sixteen forever, ten years have passed since then, and there are certain aspects of being sixteen that need to be let go.
It’s a new beginning. A better beginning. And since I believe reinvention is what drives us, I am happy to start again.
