dress drunk, travel tipsy

love being different

my city. my new york. dylan’s candy bar.

In Mel Stuart’s 1971 film, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory where Gene Wilder plays Willy Wonka, one of the most memorable scenes is when Mr. Wonka takes his guests to The Chocolate Room and tells his guests that they can eat almost anything in the room.  As they go around trying the leaves, grass, and other candies, Wonka starts to sing ‘Pure Imagination.’

The idea of a place where you can almost anything, and almost everything is made out of something delicious and sweet is incredibly tantalising to a child.  However you soon grown up to realise that no such place exists.  Or so I thought.  Then I wandered into Dylan Lauren’s candy bar.  And I’m almost sure she’s as big a Willy Wonka fan as I am.

A wall of candy. Mix it yourself!

Dylan’s Candy Bar is three floors of candy goodness, a place where you can eat almost everything. From classics and favourites like Reese’s Pieces, Three Musketeers, and Charleston Chews to innovations like chocolate covered potato chips, cupcake mints, and some of their own signature mixes, they have just about everything you can imagine.

Visiting Dylan’s can be overwhelming, especially if you go in there without a specific candy in mind because it’s almost museum-like in its layout and assortment.  So take your time.  You’re sure to find whatever your sweet tooth is looking for.

The only thing that’s missing?  A chocolate river. 😉

what do you think? :)
